Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded its best-ever Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) performance with a State Average Grade (GPN) of 4.85, said Sabah Education director Datuk Raisin Saidin.
He said the achievement marked the first time Sabah had recorded results comparable with other states during the SPM and STAM 2025 appreciation ceremony at Kian Kok Middle School on Thursday.

Raisin said 15 of Sabah’s 24 district education offices recorded results below the state average grade of five, contributing to the overall improvement.
A total of 35,234 candidates sat for the 2025 SPM examination at 320 centres statewide, supported by 8,636 examination personnel, including 566 volunteers, while Sabah’s STAM examination also improved with the state average grade rising to 2.89 from 3.06 in 2024.
On the hot weather situation in Telupid, Raisin said schools remained open as usual, although students were allowed to wear suitable attire instead of standard uniforms, while schools were also advised to minimise outdoor activities and conduct programmes indoors when necessary.
