Kuala Lumpur: Non-Muslim couples in Malaysia can now submit marriage applications online through the National Registration Department (NRD), in a move to streamline the process.
The system allows applicants to complete forms digitally via the MyGovernment portal before proceeding with further steps.
However, checks with official NRD procedures show that the process is not fully online, as couples are still required to attend in person for verification and solemnisation.
Applicants must also comply with existing requirements, including the 21-day notice period before registration can be completed.
The initiative is aimed at improving convenience while maintaining regulatory safeguards in the civil marriage process.
