Kota Kinabalu: A 64-year-old retiree was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of allegedly submitting false claims amounting to RM14,720 for the supply of food to media practitioners during Saga IX Keningau 2019.
Sessions Court Judge Nur Ashkin Mokhtar made the order after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Jaffar Matamin.
The court fixed July 29 for Jaffar to enter his defence.
Jaffar is accused of submitting claims under Didi Enterprise for supplying food and drinks to media members during the Keningau Saga IX Sports event from Dec 5 to 13, 2019, when the supplies were allegedly not fully provided as stated in the claims.
He is alleged to have submitted the claims to Assistant Accountant Sarus Kawanding at the Keningau District Office on Feb 18, 2020 with the intention of deceiving the principal of the State Youth and Sports Ministry, while the prosecution called 13 witnesses and the case was conducted by MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Wardah Ishhar, with Jaffar represented by counsel Mohamad Syazwan Shah Mohamad Ali.
