PENAMPANG: The Sarayo community tourism product in Kampung Tampasak has emerged as a new attraction, strengthening the potential of community-based and nature tourism in Sabah.
Deputy Chief Minister cum State Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the development of Sopuk Recreational Park and Sarayo Tourism reflects a local community effort to generate income through the uniqueness of the village environment.
He said the tourism product is among the latest attractions in Penampang and requires continuous effort and support from various parties to ensure its sustainability.
Ewon said this when officiating the opening of Sopuk Recreational Park and Sarayo Tourism in Kampung Tampasak, which was jointly developed by the Village Development and Security Committee and Koperasi Tampasak Penampang Berhad.
He also announced allocations of RM20,000 to support the cooperative’s entrepreneurial activities and RM100,000 for the construction of a new road to a housing area in the village.
