He said the Government would maintain the current RM1.99 per litre price for the time being, with the subsidy expected to remain in place through April and May.

Speaking when officiating the National Consumer Day (HPK) at Suria Sabah shopping mall here on Sunday, Anwar said the Government currently spends about RM2 billion a month nationwide to maintain the RM1.99 ceiling price for Ron95, amounting to about RM24 billion annually, borne fully by the Federal Government.
He said Malaysia continues to have among the lowest fuel prices in the world at RM1.99 per litre, compared with higher prices in other Asean countries and more than RM10 per litre in Singapore.
Anwar also expressed hope that the ongoing regional conflict affecting global oil supply would be resolved peacefully while reiterating Malaysia’s stance of opposing military attacks on sovereign nations and supporting dialogue to maintain peace.
