Woman confronted over taking cemetery offerings in Hong Kong

HONG KONG: A Qing Ming Festival visit turned tense after a woman was allegedly confronted for taking fruit offerings left at a cemetery on April 5.

The annual tomb-sweeping festival sees families pay respects to their ancestors by cleaning graves and leaving offerings.

According to a viral Threads post, the incident drew attention after a site manager and a cleaner approached the woman as she attempted to leave.

It was alleged the woman had collected fruit offerings using a reusable bag, with the site manager telling her, “What you’re doing is theft,” while she replied she did not know and believed the items should not go to waste.
