SINGAPORE: A man has failed in his legal claim to recover four luxury watches he alleged were gifts from his former father-in-law, the
Straits Times reported.
The court heard that the watches, which included high-end brands, were given to him during his marriage but were later returned to the older man after the relationship broke down.

The claimant argued that the watches had been gifted to him and that he was therefore entitled to ownership and possession.
However, the defendant maintained that the watches were only passed to him for use and that there was no intention to transfer ownership.
In dismissing the claim, the judge ruled that the man had failed to prove that the watches were intended as gifts, noting that ownership depended on the giver’s intention rather than the recipient’s belief.
