SANDAKAN: Deputy Entrepreneurial and Cooperative Development Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said Kampung Tanjung Aru in Kinabatangan, located on the mainland near Sandakan town, has significant potential as tourism destination.
He said the village’s seafood offerings and deep-sea fishing activities could attract considerable interest from tourists, complemented by the unique characteristics of the water village settlement.
“We see many opportunities that can be developed here, including homestay enterprises as well as local food products and seafood,” he said.
In line with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, Mohamad said the Ministry has financial assistance available to help develop tourism-related enterprises in the area.
