KINABATANGAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election, Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar, said he would carry the spirit and legacy of his late father, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, as he seeks to defend the seat.
He said the candidacy came with a heavy responsibility entrusted by grassroots leaders, which he views as both a personal duty and a public trust.

Drawing on his experience as Umno Youth chief in the area and years of working alongside his late father and local leaders, Naim said these lessons would guide his campaign on the ground.
Speaking to reporters after the nomination process at Dewan Sri Lamag on Saturday, he expressed gratitude that proceedings went smoothly and were supported by party leaders and supporters.
Facing a three-cornered contest against Warisan’s Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman and independent candidate Goldam H Salangah, Naim said he aims to meet as many residents as possible during the campaign period.
Meanwhile, BN’s Lamag state seat candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob, who will face Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek, said the party is offering young leadership while committing to a fair contest, noting that elections ultimately produce only winners or losers.
