KOTA KINABALU: Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister James Ratib said his ministry is open to technology transfer from abroad, particularly China, as part of efforts to strengthen Sabah’s education, science and innovation ecosystem.
He said this when receiving a courtesy call from a 14-member delegation of the Sabah-China Chamber of Commerce, led by its president Frankie Liew and deputy president Brett Chua, on Friday.

James said innovation must drive Sabah’s development and expressed hope the chamber would play an active role in proposing and facilitating the introduction of advanced technologies from China through concrete public-private collaboration.
He noted that the chamber’s strong links with Chinese industries were an advantage in opening doors to technology partnerships, investment and skills development, including emerging fields such as artificial intelligence.
Chua said China has several technologies suitable for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, adding that the visit marked an important first step towards building a proper platform for TVET technology cooperation in Sabah.
