KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah National Consumer Foundation (YPNM) proposed on Tuesday that the state consider next-generation clean coal power as a possible option to strengthen Sabah’s electricity supply, pointing to modern coal-fired plants operating in Kalimantan as a reference.

Its chairman, David Chan, said coal remains among the most economical energy sources in the long term and argued that adopting cleaner coal technology could balance affordability, environmental concerns and long-term energy security for Sabah.
