TUARAN: A simple act of kindness turned into a heartwarming show of youth compassion when Luke Pheodor Edward James Sipulou, a Penampang-born youth and Johor Randawi Tavantang Kaamatan (RTK) 2024, brought much-needed help to animals at Alir Animal Shelter here earlier last month.
The charity initiative, held on Dec 6, 2025, saw Luke complete his latest community effort by delivering food and essential supplies to the shelter, reminding many that giving back does not always need a grand stage.

The programme was carried out with the support of Kalabakan RTK 2025 Silvester Liaw, who assisted with the transportation of donated items to the shelter.
Their collaboration reflected how young leaders can work together with purpose, using teamwork to turn goodwill into tangible support for the community and animal welfare.
Luke said his desire to help others began when he was young, growing from a personal value into action that now extends beyond people to animals in need.
“What started as a small effort became something more meaningful,” he shared, explaining how his charity journey first began with an initiative for Don Bosco Children’s Home in Bundu Tuhan.
Encouraged by the response to that earlier project, Luke continued planning new outreach efforts, which eventually led him to organise the recent animal welfare initiative.
Through careful planning, promotion and persistence, he managed to gather and purchase substantial supplies for the shelter.
The donations included more than 35 bags of rice, over 40 kilogrammes of cat food, more than 40 kilogrammes of dog food, as well as other daily necessities required to keep the shelter running.
Volunteers at Alir Animal Shelter warmly welcomed the contribution and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely assistance.
Luke said he hopes his small step will inspire other young people to take part in community and charity work, showing that compassion paired with action can create real change.
“This is just the beginning,” he said, adding that he intends to organise more charity projects in the future.
His manager, Barrynicker Gary, founder of NG Talent and Management, said he was proud of Luke’s initiative and fully supported youth-led community work.
“I am extremely proud of Luke and fully support this initiative,” he said, noting that it was inspiring to see young people give back with sincerity and responsibility.
“What makes this project meaningful is that compassion was extended not only to people, but also to animals who are often overlooked,” he added.
The initiative was made possible with support from Tuaran Animal Clinic and Surgery, which served as the official collaborator and helped connect Luke with Alir Animal Shelter for the charity effort.
