PENAMPANG: The construction of village market premises under the Tamu Desa programme reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the grassroots level, said Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.
He stated that one such project, Kampung Ramayah Tamu Desa, was constructed last year by the Federal Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) in response to requests from village leaders during his tenure.

Ewon noted that the weekly Saturday market in Kampung Ramayah, managed by the local neighbourhood committee, has been fully utilised by small traders for regular sales activities.
He said this showed that facilities provided by the government were aligned with the real needs of micro and small entrepreneurs at the village level.
Speaking after officiating the Tamu Desa premises in conjunction with the village’s Christmas and New Year 2026 celebration, the Penampang MP said his new ministry, Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Ministry (Mindet), would prioritise MSME empowerment while overseeing transport and logistics agencies recently placed under its purview.
