KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Ministry (Mindet) will roll out a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) training programme for micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs in early 2026 to strengthen digital capability and competitiveness.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also Mindet Minister, said the initiative reflects the State Government’s push to help small businesses adopt practical AI use in daily operations.

He said the programme will be delivered through a strategic collaboration between Mindet and Pepper Labs, following discussions with the company’s delegation led by its managing director.
Ewon said the initiative is scheduled for launch at the start of next year, allowing local entrepreneurs to gradually integrate AI tools into business processes rather than viewing the technology as out of reach.
He also welcomed Pepper Labs’ decision to base a federally funded social enterprise initiative in Penampang, following a courtesy visit at his office in Wisma Kewangan, reaffirming his focus on MSMEs, social enterprises and inclusive businesses in Sabah.
