He said the publication contains a set of ready development proposals that were identified and compiled by the Sabah Development Studies Institute (IDS), and which have strong potential to be implemented in the Kuamut area.
Masiung said the framework contained in the book is based on his ideas, translated into a clear mission and vision to guide the development of the Tongod district through to 2030.
The event also saw the introduction of Tongod’s new District Officer, Hazlan Jablee, who replaces Yuesri Ismail Yusof following his transfer to the Membakut district.
“Through the mission outlined in Suara Kuamut, IDS has been positioned as the facilitator, while the District Officer together with state and federal department heads will play the role of policy implementers.
“My approach, as reflected in the vision of this book, is to ensure that Community Development Officers (PPM) and customary practitioners are involved alongside Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairmen,” he said.
He was speaking to the media after officiating the Tongod District Office Staff Excellence Awards ceremony at a resort, here, recently.
Masiung stressed that all government officers must establish two-way cooperation with district-level leaders to ensure development is implemented holistically.
“Officers and government staff must serve sincerely. Do not treat your position merely as a means to support your family without a genuine commitment to developing the community.
“Do not look down on members of the public who come to deal with you simply because you are a government officer,” he said.
According to him, Suara Kuamut outlines five main pillars and 10 development strategies that will shape the future direction of the Tongod district towards 2030.
The documented framework spans multiple sectors, including the economy, infrastructure, education and human capital development, industry, sports, culture, religion, security, environmental sustainability and the well-being of residents from all walks of life.
Both District Officers, Yuesri and Hazlan, were present at the ceremony together with staff of the Tongod District Office.
