PENAMPANG: It was a night of laughter, nostalgia, and festive cheer as former students of SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin reunited after nearly four decades. The gathering doubled as an advanced Christmas celebration, bringing together classmates who had last shared school corridors 37 years ago.
The reunion was organised by Lucy Peter Koisun, who poured her heart into making the event possible. For her, the evening wasn’t about the food or decorations, but about rekindling friendships and healing old wounds.

“It is about reconnecting and burying the hatchet from the past. The most important thing is to look forward to a new year with a new heart,” she said in her heartfelt speech.

The atmosphere was warm and joyful, with classmates reminiscing about their school days, exchanging stories, and capturing moments in photographs.
The event also paid tribute to their former mathematics teacher, Cheong Siew Hwa, who over the years had kept in touch with several of his ex-students.
In a moving speech, Cheong said he could still remember each of his students by name, though not always their backgrounds. As he mentioned the names one by one, the attendees were touched by his amazing memory despite his advanced age.
Cheong last served in the teaching profession as headmaster of SK Moyog many years ago, before succumbing to a serious illness from which he later recovered miraculously.

His presence at the reunion added a true dimension to the celebration, making everyone to have the lasting bond between teacher and students.
It was a night to remember the enduring bond of friendship and the spirit of togetherness that has carried through the years.
The reunion was more than just a celebration, it was a proof to friendships that truly stand the test of time.
Among the alumni were those who had served in government sectors, some rising to become CEOs of agencies, while others built careers in the corporate world, banking, and journalism.

Several had become successful entrepreneurs, contractors, and event organizers. Each, in their own way, had contributed to society, helping to create a healthier and more vibrant community.
