Kota Kinabalu: Five craftsman and cultural practitioners of traditional music from Sabah attended the 2025 International Jaw Harp Forum called Lubuw Na Hma’uy, from September 26 to 28 in Miaoli, Taiwan.

Organized by the Miaoli County Government, the programme gathered 34 musicians and scholars from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, the United States, and Taiwan respectively.

In the forum, part of the sessions featured dynamic exchanges on the history, philosophy, oral traditions, research findings, and cultural innovations of the jaw harp.

Discussions focused on cultural sustainability, instrumental diplomacy, and transnational exchange, with sessions held as dialogues between international delegates and indigenous master artisans from the Seediq, Atayal, and Amis ethnic groups.
