Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Government has introduced the Security and Public Order Policy (DKKA) as a guideline for implementing public security programmes.

Deputy Home Minister II, Datuk Jonathan Yasin said the policy was important in program planning and carrying out activities aimed at ensuring the nation’s peace is maintained.

“In an era of globalisation which has become more challenging and the advance of technology linked to the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the risks and threats facing the security of our nation had become more complex and borderless.

“In line with the aim of Core 6 of DKKA, which is Protecting the Assets and Important Targets of the Nation, the Secretariat of the Committee on Important Targets Center (JPSP) recommends that value added be given to existing Important Targets Inspectorate by introducing Rating of Stars on Important Targets Award (APBSP).

“This award is to enhance the control, protection and maintenance of assets, resources, critical infrastructure of important targets and protect information and records of national security,” he said at the APBSP Appreciation Night 2022 here.

Jonathan added that the main objective of the award is to evaluate and measure the performance of the system delivery of the management of security protection in important installations at an excellent level.

He said the award was also aimed at giving recognition to the administration of security protection of important targets, apart from cultivating the culture of having an atmosphere which is conducive.

“The APBSP is used for the first time by JPSP in giving recognition to important installations which showed excellent performance in the management of security protection,” he added.

The award night was jointly organised by the Home Ministry (KDN), the Office of the Chief Security Officer of Malaysia (CGSO).

It gave appreciation to 15 important installation targets including the Sultan Azlan Shah Power Station in Manjung, Perak; Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser, Kedah; the Gas Processing Plant at Santong, Terengganu; the Perlis Power Plant (Global E-Technic Sdn Hd), Perak and Bank Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

Present were Deputy Secretary-General for Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman; and the Director-General of Government Security, Prime Minister’s Department, Rahimi Ismail.
