Maijol made the remarks when officiating the launch of the Karambunai Forest City residential development in Karambunai on Friday.
He congratulated all parties involved for ensuring the project complies with regulatory requirements while safeguarding the interests and welfare of the local community.
According to him, this reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting orderly and responsible development that balances economic growth with environmental sustainability.
A total of 1,036 housing units are planned for the 20-acre site in Karambunai.
The project emphasises harmony with nature by preserving greenery and respecting the area’s natural topography without disturbing surrounding flora, demonstrating that development can be carried out responsibly without compromising environmental integrity or the character of the area.
The project is estimated to cost between RM700 million and RM800 million, with completion expected in just over two years, depending on construction progress and regulatory approvals. It is also expected to boost Sabah’s socioeconomic development, particularly through job creation during and after construction.
Marmaz Group Holdings Chairman Dato Sri Marajoh Haji Unding said strong cooperation between Marmaz Group Holdings and China State Engineering will ensure the Forest City development is executed effectively and efficiently.
He expressed confidence that, with the expertise and experience of both parties, the project can be completed as planned.
“The collaboration reflects our shared commitment to delivering a high-quality development that benefits the local community while contributing to Sabah’s long-term growth,” he said.
The Karambunai Forest City project is envisioned as a modern, environmentally conscious housing development that supports sustainable living while enhancing Sabah’s overall development landscape.
