“Contributing to society is not merely an option but a responsibility aligned with the very mandate of these GLCs’ establishment,” Hajiji said at a spectacles distribution ceremony for schoolchildren organised by Sabah Electricity at SK Tamparuli, here, Sunday.
His speech was delivered by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
Hajiji said under the previous Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 development plan, various initiatives were implemented including schooling aid and scholarships to support learning and bridge the education gap.
“This educational assistance initiative will continue under the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 development plan,” Hajiji said.
“I want every GLC to continue implementing high-impact, focused and sustainable corporate social responsibility programmes, particularly in empowering education, welfare and human capital development for Sabahans,” he added.
He said all initiatives will be monitored transparently and systematically, with periodic reports submitted to the state government to ensure programme effectiveness and accountability.
“A holistic approach that balances operational performance, financial sustainability and social responsibility is in line with the state government’s aspirations under Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0,” he said.
He also advised CSR recipients to use the assistance as motivation to continue working hard and remain focused on their studies.
