Seizure proves AKPS can do better job
“Where were the other agencies at the time when the illegal import was happening at Sepangar Port?’’ Jalil asked.
LABUAN: The newly-established Border Control and Protection Agency’s (AKPS) confiscation of 14 containers of frozen chicken declared as potatoes and peas may have crippled a developing cross-border black market trade ring and deserves a chance to continue its role.

“Under such circumstances, it is baffling that AKPS, instead of being credited, is being questioned by some quarters, instead of other similar agencies,” said activist Haji Abdul Jalil Ghani.

“Where were the other agencies at the time when the illegal import was happening at Sepangar Port?’’ he asked.

He said the containers seized were not small and it is strange that agencies monitoring cargo movement did not detect the illegal import, and it took a new agency (AKPS) to act.
