TAWAU: Marine police seized about 2,000 litres of diesel worth nearly RM10,000 in an operation at Kampung Aman Tanjung Batu, here, last Friday.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) here said the total value of the seizure, including a 10,000-litre Nissan tanker truck, was estimated at about RM160,000.

The diesel is believed to have been intended for smuggling to a neighbouring country. 

The tanker driver was detained to assist investigations.

All the seized items have been handed over to KPDN for further action and the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
