Kota Kinabalu: Teachers play an important role in guiding students to become responsible individuals and producing quality human capital for the nation’s future, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
Joachim, who is also Sabah Works and Utilities Minister, said the contributions and sacrifices of teachers were invaluable in upholding educational institutions and shaping knowledgeable and morally grounded generations.
He said without teachers, schools would not be able to produce outstanding students, adding that schools also served as platforms to nurture unity, mutual respect and a sense of togetherness among the younger generation.
He said this when officiating the 80th Anniversary Jubilee Celebration, Kaamatan, Gawai and Teachers’ Day celebration of SK St Catherine (M) Kota Kinabalu at Fr Joseph Dapoz Hall, attended by headmaster Juanes Masammin, board chairman Paul Augustine, PTA chairman Dr Jain Yassin, alumni chairman Datuk Eric Majimbun and Kota Kinabalu district education office representative Michelle Lee Chui Ning.
Joachim said the jubilee celebration reflected the school’s commitment towards providing quality education and fostering unity among the school community and society, while the event also featured the launch of the school’s 80th anniversary jubilee book, stage performances, lucky draws and other activities involving more than 200 students, staff and parents.
