KOTA KINABALU: Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia (G57) has called on the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to immediately stop towing and issuing summonses on public vehicles at night, claiming it is unfair to residents.
G57 chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said the group has received multiple complaints from the public alleging that vehicles were penalised despite not obstructing traffic, including cases during Sunday tamu markets.

He said the main issue is insufficient public parking, forcing motorists to park in unsuitable areas, and urged DBKK to adopt a more lenient approach such as issuing warnings instead of immediate enforcement.
Zulkarnain also criticised enforcement actions taken at night and on Sundays, saying they are uncommon in other major Malaysian cities.
He warned that if the issue continues, G57 may stage a peaceful protest outside DBKK headquarters.
