SANDAKAN: The Royal Malaysian Navy's (RMN) Naval Region 2 Headquarters (Mawilla 2) will organise the Armada Open Day this Saturday and Sunday at the Sandakan RMN Base in the town centre and the Sandakan town wall area.

In a statement on Friday, the organiser said the programme is aimed at strengthening ties between RMN personnel and the local community while allowing the public to learn more about the role and assets of the navy.

The statement said flypast and aerial demonstrations involving the AW139 (HOM) aircraft will also be carried out around the Sandakan town centre from May 8 to 10.

It said the activities are part of the events and preparations for the organisation of HTA26 and advised the public not to be alarmed if they see low-flying aircraft or hear aircraft noise in the surrounding areas during the period.

The organiser said the activities have been planned and carried out in accordance with established safety procedures under the supervision of the relevant authorities while inviting residents of Sandakan and nearby areas to attend the open day, which will feature various activities for visitors.
