Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government and telecommunications firm CTS Horizon Sdn Bhd are exploring strategic collaboration to widen communications network coverage and upgrade the State’s telecommunications infrastructure.
This was expressed during a courtesy call led by CTS Horizon Chief Executive Officer Zurinah Hanafiah on Deputy Chief Minister cum State Works and Utility Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Thursday.

The meeting focused on strengthening the State’s digital ecosystem in line with the state government’s aspirations toward a more modern, competitive and digitally ready Sabah.
During the visit, CTS Horizon presented an overview of the company’s services, network strengths and technical capabilities, alongside its renewed vision for digital infrastructure development across the state.
The company also briefed Dr Joachim on several key ongoing and completed projects, including its role as a fibre backhaul partner for U Mobile’s 5G rollout in Sabah.
CTS Horizon’s involvement in the FTTx, Jendela and POP2 initiatives, programmes aimed at expanding internet coverage and improving digital access, particularly in rural and interior areas, was also highlighted.
Meanwhile, Dr Joachim welcomed the private sector’s efforts in helping accelerate Sabah’s digital development, saying this aligned with the State Government’s focus on ensuring the public has access to better and more comprehensive internet and communications technology.
