Kota Kinabalu: The recreational area at Fuad Stephens Park in Bukit Padang has become safer, especially for senior citizens, following the introduction of two electric scooters donated by Tan Sri TC Goh through the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF).
City Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said the scooters, to be used by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and City Hall, would enhance patrol efficiency and support both crime prevention and public assistance duties in the park.

“The main purpose of our patrols here is firstly for crime prevention, and secondly to assist veterans or senior citizens who come here to jog or exercise. If they face any health issues, we can respond more quickly with these scooters.
“We do not allow members of the public to use these scooters. They are strictly for police and City Hall operations,” he said at the handover on Monday.
Kasim added that the area had remained largely safe, with only one minor incident recorded in October 2025 and no other criminal cases reported so far.
He also said patrols are conducted daily based on operational needs, particularly during peak hours in the morning and evening, rather than on fixed schedules.
