RANAU: A row of semi-permanent shoplots in Kampung Timbua was destroyed in a fire on Friday evening.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 5.56pm and arrived at the scene about 6.40pm, with the blaze brought under control at 7.06pm and operations concluding at 9.31pm.
The fire involved a row of shops measuring about 60 by 220 square feet, including a motorcycle workshop where 17 motorcycles and two cars — a Perodua Myvi and a Perodua Viva — were destroyed.
A 36-year-old man suffered burn injuries to his fingers and was taken to the Timbua health clinic by members of the public, while the operation involved six personnel using two hose lines with three jets and water sourced from the fire engine tank and a hydrant.
