KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will not raise welfare aid for now, keeping payments at RM200–RM350, says Assistant Minister Datuk Rina Jainal.
She said any increase depends on the state’s financial position, while federal aid is decided separately under the national budget.

Instead, both governments have expanded eligibility by raising the Poverty Line Income (PGK), with household thresholds increasing from RM1,198 (2025) to RM1,236 (2026), and per capita from RM322 to RM348.
Rina said this in the State Assembly in response to a query on whether aid would be adjusted for rising living costs.
