The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has urged the Federal Government to raise Sabah’s interim special grant from about RM600 million to RM900 million this year.
They argued that the increase is needed to match rising development needs and ensure meaningful state improvements.
LDP President Datuk Chin Su Phin said the proposed additional RM300 million should prioritise urgent infrastructure works, particularly road maintenance in urban areas such as Kota Kinabalu, where public complaints have increased due to persistent road conditions and funding constraints among implementing agencies.
He also stressed that MA63-related rights must not be delayed through prolonged legal processes.
"Sabah’s constitutional entitlements should be implemented in a timely manner, as stagnation in allocations and execution would undermine development progress and public confidence," he said.
