SANDAKAN: Skills training programmes, including mobile phone repair services, are relevant in today’s communication-driven world, says Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee.
She said such courses benefit participants by providing opportunities to generate additional income or pursue them as a career, while meeting current consumer demand.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Urban Community Economic Empowerment Programme (PEKB), she urged participants to fully utilise the skills acquired to strengthen community livelihoods.
A total of 40 participants from the urban B40 group attended the seven-day course organised by Sabah Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals Association (Swepa) and funded by the Local Government and Housing Ministry.
Vivian said RM12 million has been allocated for the programme this year, targeting 1,100 participants nationwide, with at least 70 per cent expected to generate a monthly income of RM815 within six months.
