LABUAN: Panic buying among consumers caused supermarkets across the island to experience shortages in the supply of white rice.
Bataras Hypermarket (Labuan) Manager Jean Paulos said the stock ran out on Monday following panic buying that began the previous Friday.
A check at three supermarkets found white rice stocks had dropped significantly.
“A new supply of 10 tonnes of white rice is expected to arrive soon,” she said.
