Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan was appointed chairman of the Sabah Agricultural Marketing Authority (Sama) on Friday.
The Keningau MP cum Tambunan assemblyman received his letter of appointment (LOA) at a brief ceremony held at Wisma Pertanian here, followed by members of the agency’s board of directors.

State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, said the newly established agency under the ministry will focus on marketing and downstream development of agricultural, fisheries, livestock and food products for domestic and export markets.
He said the establishment of Sama is in line with the State Government’s efforts to strengthen Sabah’s agri-food industry, particularly in marketing and value-added product development.
Jamawi expressed confidence that Jeffrey and the board would drive the agency towards enhancing market access and improving incomes for farmers, breeders and fishermen in the State.
