Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a Malaysia-bound crude oil tanker has safely transited the Strait of Hormuz after being previously reported stranded.
The ministry said the vessel was among seven Malaysian-owned commercial vessels affected by the evolving regional situation and had been granted safe passage to proceed to its final destination.

It said the outcome followed high-level diplomatic engagements, including calls between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as between Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamad Hasan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.
Separately, the Iranian embassy in Malaysia said the first Malaysia-bound vessel, Ocean Thunder, had passed through the strait on April 5 at about 5.15pm and is scheduled to arrive at Pengerang on April 17.
The ministry said it remains committed to the principle of freedom of navigation and emphasised the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement in maintaining regional peace and maritime security.
