KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly security guard was allegedly made to work under the hot sun with only a market umbrella for shelter while on duty at a bungalow, according to a viral social media post.
The claim was shared in a Threads post by a user, who questioned whether such working conditions were acceptable, citing concerns over heat exposure, lack of proper shelter and the guard’s safety.

He also alleged that some security companies exploit workers through poor welfare practices, including long hours, inadequate facilities and issues related to wages and statutory contributions.
The post further claimed there were disparities in treatment, alleging that foreign workers are often provided with better accommodation and benefits compared to local guards.
The post has since drawn widespread attention online, prompting calls for authorities to look into labour practices and ensure better protection for security personnel.
