KOTA BELUD: Police issued 14 traffic summonses to a group of motorcyclists along Jalan Kudat Bypass on Sunday during a late-night operation.
The operation, conducted from 10pm Saturday to 4am Sunday, involved five personnel, including officers from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (BSPT) of the District Police Headquarters (IPD).
District Police Chief Supt Shahruddin Mat Husain said the crackdown targeted traffic violations that endanger public safety and disrupt order.
Offences included vehicle modifications, riding without a valid driving licence, and improper or missing registration numbers.
“The operation followed public complaints and intelligence on illegal street gang activities involving traffic offences,” he said.
Shahruddin added that the operation forms part of broader crime prevention efforts under the police’s ‘omnipresence’ strategy.
He reminded the public to comply with traffic laws to reduce accidents and prevent incidents.
“Police will continue monitoring and taking enforcement action against motorcyclists who flout the law,” he said.
