MA63: 3 stages of discussion
Mustapa said he has been given the mandate to ensure that unresolved MA63 matters are addressed comprehensively through three established stages of discussion.
Kota Kinabalu: The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expedite the resolution of outstanding issues related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) through a structured, multi-tiered follow-up mechanism monitored at the ministerial level.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapa Sakmud said he has been given the mandate to ensure that unresolved MA63 matters are addressed comprehensively through three established stages of discussion.

He said the first stage involves coordination meetings which he will personally chair.

Issues that cannot be resolved at this level will be elevated to the MA63 Technical Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
“Should further deliberation be required, the matter will then be brought to the MA63 Main Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, with the participation of the Sarawak Premier and the Sabah Chief Minister,” he told reporters.

Mustapa said views and proposals submitted by the Sabah and Sarawak state governments would be carefully examined to strengthen engagement sessions with relevant federal agencies.

He also expressed appreciation to Fadillah for his continuous efforts on MA63, adding that his current role focuses on following up on remaining issues that have yet to be finalised.

In a related development, Mustapa said an MA63 dashboard displaying the latest status of claims and negotiation outcomes will be launched on the Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Division (BHESS) website by the end of this month.

“The dashboard will allow the public to track which matters have been resolved and which remain under discussion, helping to prevent confusion arising from inaccurate information,” he said.
