Kota Kinabalu: Kinabalu Yacht Club (KYC) successfully conducted their first school holiday optimist beginners’ introduction programme from Jan 5-9.

A total of eight students aged 7-10 took part in the five-day event held during the school holidays. 

KYC commodore Albert Shim, who presented certificates to the participants at the closing ceremony, said the introductory programme is open to non-members in their efforts to encourage wider participation and interest in sailing among the younger generation.

He also called on the public to come and witness the upcoming 25th City Day Open Regatta 2026, which will take place at the KYC seafront on Feb 14-15.
