KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has set aside RM173.56 million in the 2026 State Budget to strengthen welfare programmes and support vulnerable groups statewide.
State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the allocation will help the Women, Health and People’s Well-being Ministry deliver targeted aid for children, senior citizens, PWDs, single mothers and low-income families.

Key provisions include RM26.06 million for school uniforms and supplies for 227,660 primary pupils, and RM71.29 million for welfare assistance covering PWD aid, senior citizen support, orphan aid and food assistance.
RM10.05 million is allocated for disaster relief, while RM4.02 million will fund haemodialysis treatment for over 2,100 patients. Sabah Autism Centres will receive RM670,000 for expansion.
Other initiatives include the Kasih dan Kongsi early childhood programme, continued Homeward assistance for bedridden individuals and PWDs, and RM3.2 million in grants to strengthen voluntary welfare organisations.
Institutions such as old folks’ homes and welfare centres will receive RM4.37 million for operational support.
Under the 13th Malaysia Plan, KWKKR will carry out 12 projects worth RM39.83 million, including a new special needs children’s centre in Nabawan and awareness programmes on family development, health, consumer issues and women’s leadership.
