'Inform Covid-19 committee before burying your dead'
Malaysia’s third Covid-19 victim being buried in Tawau cemetery.
KENINGAU: The District Disaster Operations Control Center (PKOB) has asked customary leaders and community leaders here to inform deaths in their respective villages to the Covid-19 PKOB Committee members in this district.

A directive on this dated April 17 was circulated to the Native Chiefs (KAN), Native Chief Representatives (WKAN), Village Headmen (KK), Chinese Community Chiefs (KMC) and the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) Chairmen in this district.

According to the directive, the customary and community leaders should immediately inform the district PKOB Operations Room in the event of a death in their village.

Next of the kin of are not allowed to make their own decision to bury the deceased without the consent of the Health Department and the Police until the remains are confirmed to be positive or negative by the officials of Health Department or the Police.

Earlier, the Keningau Area Health Office was determining the whereabouts of 24 passengers aboard the Tung Ma Public Transportation bus from Keningau to Kota Kinabalu on March 14 to undergo a Covid-19 Screening Test.

When contacted in Keningau, the office spokesman said only 12 passengers turned up for the screening. He advised those who were not present to appear for their must inspection for their personal and their respective families’ health.

He said the passengers were asked to call 087- 336494 or 014- 568 9777 as soon as possible to undergo Covid-19 screening.

A total of 36 passengers boarded the bus which left at 7am on March 14.
