Kota Kinabalu: Meta Bright Group Berhad officially signed with Renai Hotel Kota Bharu to signify the hotel’s partnership in acquiring 58 units of Damai Suites to serve as an extension of its hotel business.

Renai Hotel Kota Bharu, a subsidiary of Meta Bright Group Berhad, will acquire all units on Levels 8 and 10, and will also manage Levels 12, 13 and 13A under a hotel operator agreement.

“Location is the most critical factor in property investment, and Damai is one of the prime locations in Sabah,” Hotel Director Datuk Alvin Lim stressed during the signing ceremony on Friday.

He introduced the concept of “business and leisure” hotels, which caters to both work and relaxation while addressing strong market demands.

“Many travellers seek affordable accommodation, but also want more than just a place to sleep. Modern hotels are no longer just places to stay but serve as spaces for connection, networking and unique experience, differing from traditional hotel concepts,” he explained.

Alvin expressed confidence that Damai Suites presents a strong investment opportunity. He highlighted that future hotel operations will be technology-driven to improve efficiency and convenience.

“This approach is inspired by hotels in China and Taiwan, where tech-enabled systems allows guests to check in and check out quickly through automated processes,” he said.

Meanwhile, Meta Bright Group Berhad Managing Director Lee Chee Kiang reflected on the challenges they faced during the development of the project.

“Damai is congested yet highly desirable due to its prime positioning. Despite facing daily traffic congestion and limited parking, I would like to thank the contractors, consultants and our entire team for remaining dedicated,” he said.

Lee also acknowledged the inconvenience caused to local residents during construction and expressed gratitude for their patience and understanding.

“We hope that Damai Suites will add value to the area through enhanced services, including commercial shops and a dedicated confinement centre,” he added.

He noted that the 16-storey building structure is now complete, with the topping ceremony—marking the completion of the main structure—expected within two months.

Once finished, Damai Suites will feature shoplots on the ground and first floors, automated car parks from the second to sixth floors, developer’s units on the seventh floor and boutique suites from the eighth to 15th floor.

“Within about a year, we anticipate a fully operational hotel and a purpose-built confinement centre, making Damai a more complete and well-rounded township,” Lee said.
