The programme was jointly organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), the Neighbourhood Watch Area (KRT), the Youth Club, the Madani Community, and the Marampong Village Pisompuruan Association.
The activity was held to help meet the blood supply needs of Keningau Hospital, which requires a consistently sufficient blood stock.
The organisation of the programme not only helped to boost the hospital’s blood supply but also reflected the strong spirit of solidarity within the Kg Merampong community, which is always ready to contribute to the common good.
The initiative also demonstrated close cooperation among various segments of society in ensuring the success of humanitarian-based efforts.
The blood donation campaign was held in response to the government’s call to raise public awareness of the importance of blood donation for hospital patients.
It was organised in recognition of the fact that blood saves lives, particularly for women experiencing complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
Thalassemia patients, children suffering from severe anemia—often caused by malaria or malnutrition—as well as accident victims and surgery and cancer patients, all require a large and steady blood supply.
The rice donations were channelled by the Sabah Assistant Minister of Finance and Bingkor State Assemblyman (ADUN), Mohd Ishak Ayub, in support of humanitarian efforts and the local community’s concern over the ongoing need for blood.
The rice was delivered to donors by officers from the Bingkor ADUN Office, in appreciation of the grassroots community’s voluntary contribution to the public health system.
