TELUPID: Telupid Health Clinic requires several essential upgrades to better serve patients and staff, said Assistant Minister of the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Datuk Jonnybone J. Kurum.
Jonnybone said among the needs are upgraded X-ray services, additional ambulances for emergency response, repairs to staff quarters to ensure the safety and comfort of healthcare workers, increased sustainable manpower, and enhanced electronic medical record facilities.

He said these matters would be brought to the attention of the government for immediate action, as the clinic also serves patients from Tongod and surrounding areas.
He added that the facility deserves to be upgraded into a hospital, even though it is currently under the administration of Beluran.
Jonnybone, who is also the Telupid Assemblyman, said this during a press conference after a working visit to the Telupid Health Clinic in conjunction with the 2025 Sabah Targeted Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Carnival, held here on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Jonnybone expressed hope that the construction of the Telupid Health Clinic Haemodialysis Unit for kidney patients, which is currently underway and expected to be completed by April next year, will be completed on schedule.
He said the facility will provide greater convenience for patients requiring haemodialysis services.
Regarding maternal death cases, he explained that specific indicators are involved, noting that some of the deceased were non-citizens who delayed seeking treatment at the clinic due to various factors.
On developments in Telupid, he said plans to establish a new township along the Pan Borneo Highway here will continue.
He added that the development is expected to generate local economic growth and create job opportunities for Telupid residents, reducing the need for them to travel far or migrate elsewhere for work.
Also present were SEDIA Chief Executive Officer and SDG Carnival Co-Chairman Datuk Seri Hashim Paijan, Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Razali Wahab, Telupid Assistant District Officer (Administration) Muhammad Nasrul Omar, representing Telupid District Officer Celestine Jetony, and Beluran Area Health Officer Dr Nafsah Dulajis.
