KENINGAU: Nineteen men were arrested on suspicion of involvement in an unlawful organisation during a joint Op Cantas Bersepadu (Gangsterism) operation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Registrar of Societies (ROS) at a food outlet along Jalan Masjid here on Wednesday night.

Keningau Police Chief Supt Yampil Garai said the operation, conducted at about 9pm on June 24 with ROS officers, led to the arrest of individuals suspected of being members of Kappa Rho Kappa (KRK), also known as Knights of the Right Kepper's, which was gazetted as an unlawful organisation by the Home Ministry on Dec 16, 2015.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966, while several individuals are also being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for allegedly failing to produce valid identification documents.

Police also seized 15 mobile phones of various brands and two KRK membership cards, while preliminary investigations found that five of those arrested had tattoos believed to symbolise KRK membership and two were found in possession of the group's membership cards.

Yampil said only four of the 19 suspects were able to produce identification documents such as MyKad, MyPR, MyKas or passports, while the others failed to do so, adding that all the suspects claimed they had gathered to attend KRK's annual anniversary celebration on June 24 and had been taken to the district police headquarters for further investigation.
