KOTA KINABALU: Che Hor Khor Moral Uplifting Society Penampang President Wong Sound Sing and Deputy President 1 Datuk Frankie Liew welcomed the assurance by Assistant Minister of Finance Datuk Ben Chong Chen Bin that he would do his best to secure some financial support from the State Government for the Society’s construction of the Chinese Cultural Centre project incorporating a temple over a 6.6-acre site at Bukit Padang, near here.

Chong gave the assurance when he officiated at the Society’s 24th Anniversary celebration at the Sabah Hakka Hall on Friday night.

Wong, when met at the event, acknowledged the contribution of RM100,000 from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS) for the project’s Building Fund during the tenure of its former Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew.

Liew, who was recently appointed Chairman of Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, believes that once the impressive architectural structure is completed, it will serve not only as the Society’s official premises but also as the latest tourist attraction in Penampang.
