RANAU: Residents and visitors intending to pay their respects at the Tanah Merah Islamic Cemetery here have expressed outrage after the main access road to the burial grounds was completely blocked by piles of rubbish.
The obstruction has not only caused significant inconvenience but has also offended those seeking to perform religious obligations and pay tribute to their deceased loved ones.

Social media platforms have become a focal point for public complaints, with many users highlighting the severity of the problem and the apparent lack of civic responsibility among those responsible for the illegal dumping.
One netizen questioned the effectiveness of local authorities in addressing the issue.
“Is there no solution from the District Council regarding this dumping site?
“They cannot just let it pile up, especially since open burning is no longer allowed. Imagine how large this mountain of rubbish will become in 20 years,” the user commented.
The sentiment reflects growing concern over the long-term environmental impact of the dumping and the perceived lack of effective waste management measures.
Calls for stricter enforcement and surveillance have also emerged, with some suggesting the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to identify and penalise offenders.
“They should install CCTV in this area so we can see who is too lazy to dispose of their waste properly,” another user wrote.
