Kota Kinabalu: Only 14.7 per cent of Malaysian seniors are aging healthily, according to the latest National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS).
The survey, conducted among 7,528 respondents aged 60 and above, highlights an alarming trend that calls for urgent attention from policymakers, healthcare providers and among communities.
The Senior Federal Government Officers Cooperative (Kopepksa) organised one of its annual programmes, a health talk themed “Joyful Living,” here, recently.
The session was delivered by geriatrician Dr Nareshraja Janardanan, a specialist with experience in both Malaysia and Australia. His talk focused on nutrition for older adults, with particular emphasis on sarcopenia; a muscle-wasting condition common among the elderly.
