Uncle held  for allegedly injuring lad, 3 
Jasmin said police take all forms of violence against children seriously and urged the public to immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect to authorities to ensure victims’ safety.
TAWAU: The uncle of a three-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly causing him serious injuries at an unnumbered house along Jalan MRSM, Batu 5, Jalan Apas, around 10am, on Monday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 37-year-old local suspect caused the boy to suffer injuries to his right ear and swelling on his left shoulder after he allegedly slapped and stepped on him.

“The incident was discovered by the victim’s father around 1pm on Sunday who lodged a report,” he said.

The suspect has one previous drug-related record under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Meanwhile, another local, aged 23, was arrested for  suspected involvement in a cable theft case at a warehouse along Jalan Tanjung Batu Logpond, which  caused losses amounting to RM30,000.

“The missing cables were discovered by a maintenance worker while at the warehouse around 8.30am Inspections at the scene also found signs that the wires had been pulled using wood, which was later left at the premises,” he said.

Police also seized two kilogrammes of copper wire and a purchase receipt believed to be linked to the case.
