Kota Kinabalu: A food delivery rider was charged with outraging the modesty of a woman.
Abd Zaidi Abdul Rahman, 41, pleaded not guilty to using criminal force on a 22-year-old woman by kissing the back of her neck and touching her buttocks at an apartment in Telipok at about 4.40pm on May 20, this year.
The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, on conviction.
The court fixed July 13 for pre-trial case management and released Zaidi on bail of RM1,800 in two sureties.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronnie AK Anthony prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Jagnesh Jaya.
In another case, two people were fined RM1,200 each or one month’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court here Thursday for engaging in gambling.
Mohd Hussien Rashid, 29, and Nor Afiqah Ali, 33, pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to committing the offence under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
Hussien admitted to gambling in a public place at a premises in Beverly Hills, Penampang, at about 4pm on May 13, this year.
The court heard from the prosecution that a police team conducted an “Op Dadu” raid at the premises and found Hussien involved in unlicensed online gambling top-up activities.
Police seized a Redmi A5 mobile phone, a piece of paper containing an ID and password, a black mobile printer and RM50 cash in various denominations from him.
Meanwhile, Nor admitted to gambling in a public place at a shop in Donggongon Phase 2, Penampang, at about 1.45pm on May 19, also this year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Khan, prosecuting, informed the court that a similar operation was carried out at the premises, where investigations found Nor involved in unlicensed online gambling top-up activities.
Among the items seized from her were a Tecno Go mobile phone, a piece of paper containing an ID and password, a black mobile printer and RM35 cash in various denominations.
The court ordered the seized cash in both cases to be forfeited as Government revenue.
