SIPITANG: The Sipitang district-level Kaamatan Festival celebration can enhance the value of togetherness within the community while elevating the dignity of ethnic groups.
Sipitang MP Datuk Matbali Musah said the organisation of the programme serves not only as a platform to showcase the beauty of local culture but also to promote the uniqueness of the Kaamatan celebration in the district.

“This programme reflects harmony and the spirit of goodwill that must be maintained in line with this year’s theme.
“Respect for the spirit of the paddy is also essential, as it is deeply rooted in the Kadazan Dusun Murut Rungus (KDMR) culture.
“Programmes like this can educate future generations to ensure these traditions are not lost over time, while also attracting youth interest in exploring and promoting the diversity of cultures and customs among Sabah’s ethnic groups,” he said when met by the media after officiating the opening ceremony at the Sipitang District Multipurpose Hall, recently.
Matbali expressed hope that the celebration will continue to receive strong support from the local community to preserve the culture.
“This celebration strengthens relationships and bonds among various ethnic groups, complementing unity among all races and reinforcing the value of togetherness in this district, alongside support from the District Office and related agencies,” he added.
Also present were Sipitang District Officer Abd Karim A.M Zahari; Sipitang Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Chairman Francis Japulis; Sipitang District Chief OKK Daut Kasim; Sipitang Deputy District Police Chief DSP Ismail Abdullah; and Sipitang District Council Executive Officer Kamariah Ismail.
